We came, we saw many, and we gave out much information to hundreds of visitors that passed through the Varied Industries building on Sunday, Aug. 10.  The Barn Quilts of Grundy County partnered with Central Iowa Tourism Region again this year; we worked one full day in their booth.  Thanks to CITR for allowing many of the tourism areas in Central Iowa the opportunity to do so.  It really is a great outlet for us to pass along and/or promote our area and our unique project.  If you didn’t see us, here is a picture of our booth.  We didn’t have a ton of space, but enough to pass our brochures, calendars, self-guided tour cd’s, and a children’s favorite – the Barn Quilts of Grundy County tattoos!  If you passed through and saw us, thanks for stopping and we hope to see you visit Grundy County!

On a hot & humid Friday, Aug. 1, thirty-one travelers ventured from Austin, MN in order to discover the Barn Quilts of Grundy County.  Thanks to Evie’s Travels, our guests had a day full of activities and barn quilt sight-seeing in Grundy County.  We all browsed through a quilt show in Wellsburg, ate lunch at Carol’s Restaurant, Bakery & Inn in Conrad, viewed hundreds of bolts of fabric in the Conrad General Store (the county’s only quilt shop), walked through the gorgeous Bethany Bible Garden in Grundy Center, and had an ice cream treat at the Fountain on Main in Reinbeck.
Along with these stops, they enjoyed shopping at the many great specialty shops around Grundy County.  That is something every retailer and shopper should be proud of, that many regard Grundy County as a great shopping experience.  I do believe we all had a fun-filled day, although hot, traveling the countryside.

Here are a few pictures from our day:
